perceptions, crime is rare in Egypt but it pays to be prudent
nevertheless. Deserted areas should be avoided and travelers should take
care against petty crime. Egyptian women can be seen in many
professions and those who are not familiar with Egypt culture and
traditions are often taken aback by the relative freedom of the women.
The dress code, however in Egypt is quite conservative and even female
visitors are expected to wear long, loose clothes which cover most of
the body. Male visitors should avoid getting familiar with Egyptian
women since this is considered unseemly.
